Introduction
"A Journey to the Orient" is a CD-ROM that Jacqueline created when she was in Sheridan College as part of her project in the first term of the interactive multimedia program.
Challenge
It is a general misconception that mathematics is dry and boring. Mathematics is actually the basis for a lot of games! "A Journey to the Orient" is an educational CD-ROM that explores some of the mathematics related games that are originated from China.
Solution
Jacqueline has created a CD-ROM where users can interact with characters and play various mathematics related games. Children can test their imagination and their knowledge regarding shapes with the tangram game. They can also learn how to read Chinese number characters by playing the dim sum game. The magic square game will help children to understand numbers and addition. Colorful graphics and music is used to attract younger audiences.
